FREEPORT - Hurricane Gumbo and Dennis Stroughmatt and Creole Stomp will be the featured bands as the 2008 Music On Chicago series begins on Friday, June 13, in downtown Freeport. Hurricane Gumbo, an eight-piece, Chicago-based band combines zydeco, rhythm and blues, jazz and funk, will be opening at 6 p.m. and French Creole fiddler and accordionist Dennis Stroughmatt and his band, Creole Stomp, will be performing at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $3 per person. The event is open to adults 21 and older. Located on Chicago Avenue between Stephenson and Main, the gates open at 5:30 p.m.
