Freeport: Music Foundation offering two awards

FREEPORT - Stateline Music Foundation is offering two awards of $500 and $250 for high school seniors (public, private or home-schooled) who are graduating in 2008 and will major in music in either a junior or four-year college or university school of music.

Applicants must be residents or attending high school in Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Carroll, Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, DeKalb, Whiteside or Lee counties. Application blanks and repertoire requirements are available by writing to: The Stateline Music Foundation, in care of Kenneth Drake, 11481 N. Springfield, Baileyville, IL 61007 or by e-mail: keosdrake@aol.com. Applications should be returned postmarked no later than Feb. 16.

Auditions for voice, piano, organ, strings, woodwinds, brasses and percussion will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Freeport Arts Center, 121 N. Harlem Ave., Freeport. The auditions will be open to the public.

The Stateline Music Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to presenting recitals and promoting performance by young musicians.
