FREEPORT - The Stephenson Society of Model Trainmen will have their annual spring model railroad open house on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13, at the club's facilities located at 1055 West Beach Street in Freeport. The Fever River Railroad HO scale train layout will be in operation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The Stephenson Society of Model Trainmen's facility is located in the former Illinois Central Railroad boarding house adjacent to historic Wallace railroad yard in Freeport. The feature display will be the fully operational HO-scale model operating railroad, one of the largest club-based model railroad layouts in the Midwest. Also on display will be a variety of railroad memorabilia and pictures of numerous local and national railroads. Admission is a donation of $3 for adults, $1 for children and $5 per family.
