FREEPORT- Meet Chicago Cubs celebrity Ron Santo or "hit one out of the park" at the Grand Opening on Saturday, June 14, of Little Cubs Field, 1160 W. Empire St. in Freeport. The field, which was conceptualized almost five years ago, has become a reality - and is just the place to enjoy America's favorite pastime. Little Cubs Field is just like Wrigley Field in Chicago, from the outfield wall ivy to the scoreboard, and it's the only replica of its size in the world. Little Cubs Field souvenirs, officially licensed MLB merchandise, and other gift items are available in the gift shop. There will be free field events, prizes and food from noon to 7:30 p.m.
