FREEPORT - Highland Community College is offering equine courses beginning this fall. The two-credit hour courses include:
Introduction to Horse Feed and Breeding
Introduction to Equine Sports Massage and Horse Maintenance
Introduction to Horse Handling, Horsemanship and General Training
Introduction to the Practical Work of the Horse.
The classes will be taught by Anki Folkstedt, a 30-year veteran of Swedish riding schools and certified riding school master. She also has experience as an equine sports massage specialist. She focuses on teaching the importance of companionship between horse and handler.
