MONROE — Fowler Dental Clinic is a facility that has for many years been providing oral care to uninsured and underinsured children age 1 to 15 in Green and Lafayette Counties. Fowler Dental Clinic’s future goal is to provide services for adults insured by Forward Health or on limited income beginning sometime in 2021.

The dental clinic accepts referrals through public and private health care screenings, medical providers, school nurses, social services and existing clients. Children can receive diagnostic, preventative, restorative, endodontic and oral surgical services. Appointments can be made by calling 608-328-9404 Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The services were previously located at the county building in Monroe. When that location was scheduled to be demolished, it was necessary to find a new home. Several locations were considered. When the Monroe Clinic offered to have the Fowler Dental Clinic relocated to an available location on their Monroe campus, it became obvious this would be a good choice as having a safety net dental clinic located close by a medical facility would lend itself to referrals and also reduce the amount of dental related emergency room visits through earlier interventions and oral health program awareness.

Once the decision was made to go with the Monroe Clinic location, the next problem was funding for the necessary remodeling to transfer the space into a functioning dental clinic and also the actual move of the dental and other equipment from the old location once the remodeling was complete.

Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation has from the beginning of the Fowler Clinic provided critical support to the Fowler Clinic beginning with funding the initial single chair clinic in 2009 and then with an expansion to 4 chairs in 2014.

Most generously Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation again came forward with a $181,000 grant to help with relocation and construction expenses at the new Fowler Dental Clinic location.
