LENA - St. John's Lutheran Church will host a potluck at noon Feb. 25 at the church, 625 Country Lane Drive, followed by a presentation by the Rev. Dr. John L. Spangler.

Spangler will present discoveries about the planets, sun, asteroids and comets that contradict the "Big Bang" theory and other popular ideas about the universe and its origin. Spangler includes pictures and demonstrations to present information that often is ignored by academia and news media.

Spangler is the pastor of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Roscoe, Illinois. Previously, he was an adjunct professor at Concordia University in Wisconsin, where he taught astronomy, astrophysics, general science and theology and also has taught high school space and earth science and physics. He has been a featured speaker on Christian television regarding space and science and has made numerous presentations across the United States on related topics.

The potluck and presentation are open to the public. For more information, call the church office at 815-369-4035.
