MONROE - The Christmas Poster Contest, sponsored by Council 1471 of the Knights of Columbus, had 199 posters entered by first through fifth grade students from Nov. 26 through Dec. 3.
Students from Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Elementary, Northside Elementary, Parkside Elementary and St. Victor schools entered, with separate judging in each grade level. Winning posters from first through fourth grade will be forwarded for regional competition, and fifth grade was a local contest only.
The grade 1 winning poster was made by St. Victor School's Florian Riese, daughter of David and Carol Riese.
Grade 1 honorable mentions were Danica Altman, Sophia McGuire, Santos Tinoco and Michael Butler, all of St. Victor School; and Katrina Sathoff, Parkside Elementary.
The grade 2 winning poster was made by Northside Elementary's Roderick Rath, son of Gretta Rath.
Grade 2 honorable mentions were Taylor Jacobson, Northside Elementary; Isaac Bunker, Lindsey Davis, Emery Smith, Leslie Ayala, Prue Strauch, Anthony Wels, Jimmy Boyce and Jenna Calvagna, all of St. Victor School.
The grade 3 winning poster was made by St. Victor School's Vaughn Barker, daughter of Heath and Tricia Barker.
Grade 3 honorable mentions were Kaitlyn Murphy, Delaney Wickstrum, Michelle Cardoso, all of Parkside Elementary; Olivia Wiegel, Heath Huschitt, Sabrina Hanson, Breanna Lambert, Kennedy Klemm, Anna Garry and Faye Green, all of St. Victor School.
The grade 4 winning poster was made by St. Victor School's Benjamin Moon, son of Steve and Lisa Moon.
Grade 4 honorable mentions were Cheyenne Ladwig and Alexa Thayer, both from Northside Elementary; Cecily Burch, Parkside Elementary; Rylee Perdue, Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Elementary; Maddison Markham, Megan Benzschawel, Maggie Curtis, Owen Smith, Amy Wuethrich, and Miguel Aragon, all of St. Victor School.
