MONROE - The Aging and Disability Resource Center will hold the first Memory Cafe in Green County from 1:30 to 3 p.m. May 11 at the Behring Senior Center Blends and Friends Cafe, 1113 10th St., Monroe.

A memory cafe is a social gathering for individuals living with memory loss and early-stage dementia, including Alzheimer's, and their family and friends. It will be a time to gather for laughter, relaxation, activities and companionship.

The cafe will be held the second Wednesday of each month. Some possible activities include music, photo sharing, guest presenters, games and hobbies, such as gardening.

The Monroe Memory Cafe is a stigma-free program where those suffering from memory loss can find enjoyment and relaxation. There will be skilled staff and volunteers present to facilitate the free program, but those needing assistance to participate should have a family member or friend present.

For more information or to participate, contact Whitney Thompson, dementia care specialist for the ADRC, at 608-426-4295 or wthompson@gchsd.org.
