MONROE - The Green County Historical Society will be publishing a new book, "Monroe Area Pictorial History," this summer.
The book has been in the works for 10 years and contains 260 photographs from Monroe and the surrounding rural community. Photographs in the book were taken between the 1870s and 2008, and each is captioned.
Matt Figi will do a presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. May 9 at the senior center, with a sneak peak of some of the photos in the book and information about the pre-publication special. It is a free program open to anyone 55 and older. Advance registration is not required.
The book is an extension of "Pictorial History of Monroe," which was published by GCHS in 2006. The books will be available later this summer.
