FREEPORT - Freeport/Stephenson County Visitors Center is hosting a special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, as part of its "Fairy Tales and Spinning Wheels: The Fiber Arts" Expo.
The Moonspinners Guild, whose members designed the expo, will work their magic through spinning and other demonstrations.
There will also be yarn and fiber gift items for sale. A special attraction will be Fred the sheep who is a wonderful provider of fiber.
The Fiber Art Expo will be running from now through April 18.
The 14th Annual Stephenson County Fiber Art Fair to be held on April 17 in Cedarville. The expo highlights fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty, Arachne, The Twelve Swans, and Rumplestiltskin which have spinning and weaving themes, as well as the unique fiber arts which will be represented at the fair.
The Visitors Center, located at 4596 US Highway 20 east of Freeport, is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Funded by private donations, the Center is designed to promote economic growth in Freeport and Stephenson County.
