MONROE — Farmers of the Sugar River, a producer-led watershed group, is holding its second annual “Shop Talk,” a day of discussion, networking and demonstrations for all area farmers to attend for free March 26.

Helena Agri is hosting the event at their facility north of Monroe at W5607 Aebly Road. The day begins at 10:15 a.m. with registration. The first speaker will start at 10:30 a.m. The topics covered for the day include best practices for sprayer maintenance, demonstrations with a spray table to show droplet size and drift agents effects and discussion about herbicides and carryover for cover crops and forages. There will also be an opportunity for farmers to be certified for Xtend beans and dicamba training at the end of the day. The day is scheduled to wrap up around 3:30 p.m.

The day is meant to appeal to farmers that do their own spraying and those that hire it done to better understand nozzle calibration, herbicide interactions and cover crop establishment. There will be representatives from Helena, Corteva and BASF to answer questions.

Lunch will be provided. RSVP by March 20 to Tonya.Gratz@wi.nacdnet.net or call 608-325-4195 extension 121.
