WISCONSIN DELLS - Green County Farm Bureau was well represented at the 89th annual Wisconsin Farm Bureau annual meeting held on December 6-8 at the Kalahari Resort that saw more than 1,100 members in attendance in Wisconsin Dells.
Green County Farm Bureau President Jeff Ditzenberger, Vice-President Cal Wasserstrass, Sandy Wasserstrass, Secretary/Treasurer Alissa Grenawalt, Ken Schlapbach, Nicolette Schlapbach, and Tim Schultz were in attendance from Green County.
Members enjoyed this year's event as Michael Martin Murphy entertained folks with his Cowboy Christmas music on Saturday evening. Featured keynote speaker, Dr. Ron Hanson, agribusiness professor from the University of Nebraska, also highlighted the occasion with his communication between the generations and farm transition seminars on Sunday. Young Farmer and Rancher as well as County Farm Bureau Awards were handed out on Sunday, while Monday morning concluded the meeting where 2009 Farm Policy was voted on by county delegates. It was also a great opportunity to network with other Farm Bureau members from across the state.
"It was a great meeting," Cal Wasserstrass said. "We heard reports that our membership has increased during the past year and despite the economic situation, the Wisconsin Farm Bureau is doing OK financially. The speakers were good, especially Dr. Hanson. The state policy resolutions were well debated. And the Kalahari Resort was a great host."
