MONROE - The Green County Farm Bureau invites all fourth- and fifth-grade students in the county to enter the 2008-09 Wisconsin Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom's Essay Contest. This year's topic is "Famous People in Wisconsin Agriculture." This program helps students learn about famous Wisconsin people that had an impact on Wisconsin agriculture. This topic fits into history and social study lessons and allows classes to network with historical resources around the state.
Students are encouraged to select a person that has had a major influence in Wisconsin agriculture - past or present - and research some of the inventions, discoveries and other strides made in Wisconsin agriculture.
The contest is sponsored by Green County Farm Bureau, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, WE Energies and the WI Farm Bureau Federation. Last year more than 1,500 students participated in the essay contest.
