ARGYLE - Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is presenting a free educational workshop called "Keeping the Farm in the Family," at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at The Gnarly Oak Restaurant, Yellowstone Golf Course, 15750 Old Q Road, between Argyle and Blanchardville. A complimentary lunch will be served following the workshop.
Each year, American farm families wrestle with the task of passing the farm to the next generation. A lot is at stake in this handoff, including income and security for the senior generation; control and authority for the younger generation; and fairness and equity for non-farming family members.
During the workshop, participants will gain a basic understanding of how farm owners can secure their financial future, understand transition obstacles and develop a transition plan to smoothly transfer their business and maintain family harmony.
To register for the workshop, contact Vicki Tollakson, vice president of the Lafayette County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, at (608) 543-3716 or (608) 558-7415 or via e-mail: nvet@centurytel.net. The reservation deadline is Sept. 6.
Attendance at this workshop is open to any interested individuals in the area. Membership in Thrivent Financial is not a requirement to attend.
