There were 120 one-room rural schools scattered throughout Green County in 1920. 

Matt Figi has been collecting photos like the one here and trying to put as many names to faces as possible while people are still around to identify them. 

This 1940 photo was taken in front of the Pleasant Hill School, located near N2398 Balls Mill Road. The school closed in the summer of 1945 with Verona West as the teacher for the last two years.
