MONROE - The Gratiot Evangelical Free Church is sponsoring Hope For The World on May 21 at Ludlow Mansion. There will be speakers and music from Colombia, South America and Peru.

Russell Stendal, previous captive of the Colombian guerrillas, will be the main speaker. He will be relating stories of his daring work in Colombia, as well as visits to Cuba.

Alethia Stendal and her husband, Stephen Miller, will bring the music for the event, as well as share from their experiences. Stendal has written and directed documentaries about the war in Colombia and co-wrote, directed and produced the film "La Montana."
