JANESVILLE — The Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB) received a $3,858,861 grant from the U.S Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to operate the initiative: PATHWAY Home 2. The program is funded 100% through the Employment and Training Administration and the Department of Labor and is available through Dec. 2024.

The purpose of the PATHWAY Home 2 grant is to provide eligible individuals in state, county or local institutions with workforce services prior to their release, and to continue services after their release by helping them transition back to their local communities. Through coordination with the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, the Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board, West Central Wisconsin Workforce Development and local partners, SWWDB will help justice involved individuals enter the workforce.

“The Biden-Harris administration is committed to creating more opportunities for justice-involved individuals to complete high school and college, enter apprenticeships and share the benefits as our economy continues to recover,” said Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. “By investing in programs to prepare these individuals for job opportunities, the Labor Department is also investing in our communities and our families.”

“As Wisconsin continues to bounce back from the pandemic, every sector in our regional economy still struggles to find employees. With the cooperation of our justice partners, the Pathways project will build an additional talent pipeline to assist employers throughout the State,” said SWWDB CEO, Rhonda Suda.

The PATHWAY Home 2 project will support expanded services to eligible individuals in state correctional facilities or local jails pre-and post-release to help eliminate the gap between release and enrollment into transitional programs to improve employment outcomes for those who are involved in the criminal justice system.
