MONROE - Eight youth were recently selected to receive scholarships from the annual Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Scholarship program.
A total of $3,550 was distributed this year by the Dairy Youth Auction Committee. Receiving Dairy Youth Scholarships were: Joel Dieckhoff, son of John and Deb Dieckhoff, Brodhead; Rachel Gilson, daughter of Bob and Cindy Gilson, New Glarus; Molly Wyss, daughter of Randy and Pam Wyss, Monroe; Lukas Wymer, son of Jeff and Valerie Wymer, Brodhead; Bryce Zettle, son of Brian and Kim Zettle, Juda; Maria Eberle, daughter of Stacy Eberle, Monroe; Evan Dorn, son of Dennis and Mary Kaye Dorn, New Glarus; and Jenna Sweeney, daughter of Paul and Tammy Sweeney, Brodhead.
The scholarships are funded through proceeds from the Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction, held in conjunction with the Cheese Auction conducted by the Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association at the County Fair.
Scholarships were awarded on the basis of information provided by the applicant that includes their involvement in the dairy project, leadership skills they gained in 4-H and FFA and their future career goals.
Those who received a scholarship will be formally recognized at the 2013 Green County Dairy Youth Auction to be held on Sunday, July 21, during the Green County Fair.
