MONROE — SSM Health Monroe Hospital Family Birth team members, Morgan Duncan, RN, and Kelly Metz, CNA, are the newest recipients of the DAISY and BEE Awards.

The DAISY and BEE Awards recognize staff members who provide outstanding care and compassion to patients and their families. Patients, visitors and staff can nominate an SSM Health employee for the DAISY or BEE Awards. Nomination forms are available online at www.ssmhealth.com.

Morgan was nominated by two recent Family Birth patients. One of her nominations shared that “Morgan was our night shift nurse after we delivered on son via c-section. My physical recovery was much harder than I expected. Morgan was kind, compassionate and gentle as she helped me, addressed my pain, listened to my birth story and helped us get a great start to our breastfeeding journey. She went above and beyond to provide exceptional nursing care to our family. Morgan truly cares about her patients and provides much needed physical and emotional support and encouragement during the initial postpartum period. We are grateful for Morgan and the care she gave us!”

Kelly was nominated by Erica Wand, Director of Women’s Health, and her fellow coworkers. Her nomination shared that “Kelly is the glue that holds the department together and the oil that ensures things run smoothly. She is always cheerful and positive. Kelly demonstrates a high level of initiative. She often has things done before anyone can ask her for help. Anything you ask her to do she is more than willing to do, patient’s vital signs, 24-hour cares on babies, emptying trash or picking up patient trays, cleaning up instruments from the deliveries, taking patients out to go home, and the list goes on and on and all these things with a smile. We are so blessed to have her on our team.”
