MONTICELLO - The Monticello Veterans Memorial Committee signed a contract with Pechmann Memorials, Madison, to proceed with the plans for the Monticello Area Veterans Memorial.
The India black granite walls and benches have been ordered and will arrive in three months, followed by another 60 days to allow for engraving. The target date for completion is Sunday, Nov. 11.
The committee is still seeking support to complete the project.
Contributions so far have been received from the Monticello Community Club, Amstutz-Marty American Legion, William and Julie Gempler, Alliant Energy, Harold and Wanda Babler, Shaye and Bryan Babler, Roger and Madeline Dooley, Ruth Wittenwyler, Wade Wittenwyler, Tim and Sheri Wichser, Marilyn Workman, Gordon and Carol Schultz, Dave and Sue Wild, Evelyn Ritschard, Lois Hopkins and Karen Ballin.
The Bank of Monticello is accepting tax-deductiable donations, which can be mailed to Harold Babler, P.O. Box 145, Monticello, 53570.
