MONROE - Women of all ages who have been meaning to schedule a girlfriends night out or a getaway weekend can stop talking about it and start planning. They can mark their calendars now for a weekend full of shopping and indulgence, fashion and fun - plus a little bit of pampering and a whole lot of time to reconnect with friends.

The second annual Diva Daze in Monroe, slated for March 27-29, promises a full weekend that includes a wide range of activities and registrants can choose to attend one or all of them.

Special guest diva, former Miss Wisconsin Stephanie Klett of Discover Wisconsin television and radio, is delighted to be part of Diva Daze. "I love the city of Monroe," Klett said, "and this event is a great way for all the women who do so much for so many to recharge and not feel an ounce of guilt!"

The weekend kicks off with a "Divas Uncorked!" wine tasting and hors d'oeuvre sampling at Café Claudeen in downtown Monroe on Friday night.

Saturday morning's wake-up coffee at the Vendor Shopping Showcase at Turner Hall starts the day and energizes participants to go off and fill their Diva Passports by visiting participating stores throughout Monroe. Everyone who completes the passport is eligible to win one of the grand prize theme baskets.

Monroe offers a small town shopping experience with numerous specialty boutiques featuring ladies apparel and accessories and a selection of shops offering gifts, jewelry, art antiques, shoes, culinary supplies and home décor. Guests looking to add a spa visit to their Diva Daze experience are invited to call ahead for recommendations.

Women who are guilty of having the same hairstyle since high school, needing a makeup update or wanting add a touch of bling to their new spring wardrobe should nominate themselves or their friends for a chance to be chosen for a "Diva Do-Over." Five candidates will be chosen to pose for a classic "before" photo and then treated to a new hairstyle and makeup courtesy of Studio 906. They'll also work with one of the downtown stores to select an outfit to wear in the fashion show.

After a light brunch buffet including the traditional Diva Daze champagne toast, all divas will be invited to chase those end-of-winter blues away with a peek at the latest spring styles during Saturday's Runway Fashion Show, narrated by Klett.

Those who want to make it a full weekend can choose among several evening entertainment options on their own, including a musical performance by Voices Unlimited at the Monroe Art Center, live music and dancing at the Road House, or movie night at the Goetz Theatre.

A Sunday morning brunch will feature a showcase of local female artisans, who will also offer their creations for sale.

Events throughout the weekend are priced separately and a discounted price is offered on the entire package.

Out-of-town divas can visit www.greencounty.org for lodging options.
