MONROE — The 2023 Green County Dairy Breakfast will return to a familiar farm. On May 27, the last Saturday of the month, DeVoe Farm will host the annual event, sponsored by the Green County Ag Chest.
DeVoe Farm, located at N266 Twin Grove Road, Monroe, hosted the event in 2010.
This year’s event will take place from 6-10 a.m. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, homemade coffee cakes, ice cream, strawberries, milk, coffee and orange juice. There will also be farm tours, arts and crafts, educational stations, antique tractors and other entertainment.
The Dairy Breakfast has been held in Green County since 1961, and the Ag Chest has sponsored the event since 1979. An estimated 5,000 visitors attend the event each year.
According to the Green County Ag Chest, the annual event goes through more than:
● 2,400 eggs
● 1,300 pounds of sausage
● 5,000 half-pints of milk
● 126 gallons of ice cream mix
● 3,500 cartons of orange juice
● 200 Homemade Dairy Breakfast Coffee Cakes
● 13 gallons of fresh strawberries
● 110 pounds of butter
● 480 pounds of cheese
● 26 pounds of coffee
