FREEPORT - The Highland Community College held its 53rd annual commencement exercises Saturday in the Larry F. Kahl Gymnasium inside the Sports Center/YMCA on the HCC campus. More than 600 degrees and certificates were conferred during the 2015-2016 academic year.

Graduates Joseph Domanski and Kevyn-Ann Sutter followed the opening remarks by HCC President Tim Hood with a speech to the graduates. The main address to the class of 2016 was given by Dr. Duane Ford, retired president of Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.

Area graduates include:

Orangeville: Danielle Brinkmeier, Associate of Science; Cory Dietmeier, Associate of Science and Associate of Arts; Logan Birr, Associate of Arts; Bethany Shuman, Associate of Arts; Courtney Thilmany, Associate of Arts

Monroe: Michaela Geiken, Associate of Arts

South Wayne: Heaven Paul, Associate of Arts; Michaela Akins, Associate of Science

The program concluded with HCC alumnus and Galena, Illinois, area businessman Fred Bonnet.
