STEVENS POINT - The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point conferred degrees on more than 700 graduates during the university's winter commencement ceremonies on Dec. 19, 2015. Graduates, their guests and faculty members were addressed by Nick Desien, former chief executive officer of Ministry Health Care. Chancellor Bernie Patterson welcomed the participants, and Provost and Vice Chancellor Greg Summers recognized honor students and award winners. The following area students received diplomas:

Belleville: Joshua OConnor, Bachelor of Science, social science-broadfield; and Austin Shrader, Bachelor of Science, fisheries and water resources

Brodhead: Elizabeth Rodriguez, Bachelor of Science, early childhood education

Darlington: Nicholas King, Bachelor of Science, resource management-law enforcement

Monroe: Alexander Purdy, Bachelor of Arts, psychology, social science-broadfield, magna cum laude; Kyleigh Sellnow, Bachelor of Science, health science-health care informatics; and Rachele Thompson, Bachelor of Science, wildlife ecology-information and education

Monticello: Christopher Blum, Bachelor of Science, computer information systems-application development, web and digital media development; and Kasey Westby-Hess, Bachelor of Science, computer information systems-application development, web and digital media development

New Glarus: Nathan Gabel, Bachelor of Arts, communication-public relations



MADISON - Edgewood College commencement ceremonies were held Dec. 20, 2015, in Madison. The following area students received degrees:
