VETERAN’S LUNCHEON 

A luncheon for all veterans 55 years of age and over.

Wednesday, Dec. 8th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.. We will be meeting at the Behring Senior Center for lunch. Spouses are welcome and please do not arrive before 10:45 a.m..  We will be having lasagna, rolls, cookies and beverages. Donation of $2.00 and PLEASE CALL 325-3173 so we know how much food to prepare. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED!!! Thank-you.


FALL EXERCISE CLASSES WILL BE IN THE GYM

Indoor Classes started on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021. Please bring a change of shoes to wear in the gym. Classes are as follows:

1. Fitness First is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.

2. Men’s Exercise on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Time has changed to 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

3. Chair Pilates on Mondays only at 10:45 to 11:30a.m..

4. Balance Yoga is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

5. Dance Aerobics will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. First class at 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and the second class is at 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Please note there are 2 classes!

6. Yoga is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Please note time change. 

7. Fusion is on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.


EXERCISE REGISTRATION — NO MORE LINES, NO MORE REGISTRATION, AND NO MORE STRESS.

The Behring Senior Center now offers Drop-ins and Punch Cards for all exercise classes. If you want to “Drop-In” to a class, simply pay $3 for a 45-minute session. You can also purchase a punch card and save $1.00 per class. Punch Cards are available for $20 for 10 classes or $40 for 20 classes. Because no registration is required, you can try out all of the different exercise classes you want. You can purchase Punch Cards at the Front Desk and/or Wellness Center Desk. You will have to fill out a liability waiver to participate in exercise classes. 


CHAIR MASSAGE 

Dates: Fridays, Dec, 3 & 17, 2021, Jan. 7 & 21, Feb. 4 & 18 and March 4 & 18, 2022.

Cost: $20.00

Times: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (20 min.) Please note time change.

Melissa Kieler is a Massage Therapist at Healing Notes here in Monroe. You will pay Melissa directly the day of your appointment. She accepts cash or check. MASKS REQUIRED. If you need to cancel, please call 

NO LATER than Wednesday prior to your appointment so we can fill your spot with someone from our waiting list.


FOOT CARE WITH JULIE

Dates: Tuesdays, Dec. 7 & 14, 2021, Jan. 11 & 18, Feb. 1, 8, & 22, March 15, 22, & 29, 2022. If you need to cancel, please call us at least 24 hours in advance so we can fill your spot from our wait list.

Cost: $40.00 and you will pay Julie directly.

Times: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are around 30 minutes.

Your feet will be soaked, your toenails will be clipped, and your heels and other rough areas will be exfoliated. You’ll also get a mini leg & foot massage, as well as a refreshing lemon mist.  


Senior Center Library is open on the 2nd floor. We want to thank everyone who donated books and puzzles during the pandemic.  We have a table by the elevator for the returned books and puzzles.


Table Tennis (ping pong) will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m.. Players must wipe down paddles when done, one person has to wipe down the table and ping pong balls.


Pool (Billiards) players get those pool sticks all chalked up and ready to go!

The pool hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Only 6 players at a time. No more calling in for appointments. 


ATTENTION ALL PICKLEBALL PLAYERS!

We have 2 different levels:

•  Level 1: Beginner/Intermediate will be on Wednesdays & Fridays from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and limited to 8players.

•  Level 2: Intermediate/Advanced will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and also limited to 8 players. This is for the ones who want to play competitive ga.m.es while having fun.


CARDS 

Card ga.m.es are at the Senior Center FROM 12:30 TO 3:30 p.m.. Some things are new. We are playing for fun and there are NO PRIZES. Please do not arrive early or stay late. Due to new cleaning protocols, all card ga.m.es end at 3:30 p.m.. Please wash your hands before playing. At this time, NO FOOD IS ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE BUILDING. Single-serve beverages are allowed. Mondays are Euchre, Tuesdays are Canasta and Horse & Pepper, Thursdays are for 500 and Yass.


Bingo with Aster & Flippo at the Senior Center.  Limit of only 30 people.                

* Christmas Present Bingo is Friday, Dec. 10, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.. Aster will be giving away holiday prizes and serving refreshments.

* Flippo will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 17th. You have to bring your own deck of cards.


MOVIE TIME IS 3 TIMES FOR DECEMBER.

Mark your calendars for the Dec. movies.

First movie is Thursday, Dec. 9th at 1:30 p.m.. Showing is “The Fa.m.ily Stone.” A comedy film rated PG-13, and the run time is 1 hour and 44 minutes. Everett Stone wants to bring his girlfriend to meet his bohemian fa.m.ily at Christmas.

Second movie is Tuesday, Dec. 21st at 1:30 p.m. is “Disney’s Noelle” also a comedy. Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of the Christmas spirit, but wishes she could do something “important” just like her brother Nick, who has taken over Santa this year. Rated G and runs for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Third movie will be “The Preacher’s Wife” and will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 28th. Henry Biggs is a Baptist pastor in a struggling church in New York City. This film is a remake of the gospel music of “The Bishop’s Wife”.

Movies are on the 2nd floor, and all movies begin at 1:30 p.m. Limit to 30 people per movie and you must call to make a reservation for one or both movies. 


COFFEE & CHAT BOOK CLUB

Date: Monday, Dec. 6

Time: 10 a.m.

Place: Senior Center Dining Room

 Our group will meet to discuss the book, “The Great Alone” by Kristen Hannah. 

  We will meet once a month to discuss the book while enjoying a nice cup of coffee. You can still join us. Limit to 20 people.


NEW CLASSES AND PROGRAMS:

PAINTING WITH NINA.

Painting with Nina will be Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. You’ll be making a cute burlap snowman banner. Cost is $22.00 and there is a limit of 8 People. 


JESSICA MICHNA PRESENTS — MITTENS ON THE TREE.

On Monday, Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m.

Limit to 40 people. We will start taking reservations on Dec. 1.

She portrays Ma Caroline Ingalls, mother of noted Laura Ingalls Wilder, preparing for Christmas in 1886. This is a popular show so sign up right away.


Knitting Classes with Jocelyn

Class #1 — How to use double pointed needles (2 sessions). Will be held on Mondays, Dec. 6 & 13 from 10 a.m. to noon and cost $40 per person. Supplies needed: worsted weight waste yarn and a set of double pointed needles in size 6-7- or 8. 

Class #2 — Begin to knit socks (4 Sessions). These classes will be on Mondays, January 3, 10, 17 & 24 with start time at 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $60 per person. Supplies: 200+ yards of worsted weight yarn and a set of double pointed needles size 6-7 or 8.


SSM Health at Home Presents — Surviving the Winter Blahs

Monday, January 24th at 10:00a.m..  Learn about why so many of us feel tired or down during the winter months and gain tips on what you can to prevent this. Learn how to improve your mood and health during this time of year.
