MADISON - Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin reminds students, parents and educators in Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional District that the deadline for submitting applications for a nomination through her office to our nation's service academies is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. Applicants wishing to enter an academy next summer with the class of 2013 must submit completed applications to Baldwin's Madison office, 10 E. Doty St., Suite 405, Madison, WI 53703.

A Congressional nomination is required for students wishing to enter the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado; the Military Academy at West Point, New York; the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland or the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York.

Successful applicants will have a strong academic record, strong leadership potential, and be able to pass a physical aptitude test. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens, high school graduates, between the ages of 18 and 23, have no dependents, and be of high moral character.

Interested students may access the Congresswoman's academy nomination application form and fact sheet via her Internet Web page, www.tammybaldwin.house.gov or contact Cathie Trevallee, in Baldwin's Madison office, (608) 258-9800. Qualified students will be interviewed in mid-November by the Congresswoman's academy selection committee, comprised of area business, civic, and education leaders.
