DARLINGTON - The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is donating $10,000 to the Darlington Area Veteran's Memorial.
Funding for this project was sponsored by the Col. Benjamin Harrison Chapter in Monroe, which has members from Monroe and Darlington.
DAR provides grant funding to support projects in local communities which promote the organization's mission areas of historic preservation, education and patriotism. The application process for grant funding is competitive and the maximum award is $10,000.
The money will help to erect a veteran's memorial in Darlington community. Digging for the memorial site began on June 12. The Darlington Area Veterans Memorial committee is still seeking veterans' names for the memorial. The most current list of names collected to date is posted near First National Bank and can also be seen at darlingtonwi.org.
