MONROE - The Monroe CROP Hunger Walk is set for Oct. 18. Registration begins at noon, and the walk starts at 1 p.m. in the St. John's UCC parking lot.

Organizers set a goal of 300 walkers and hope to raise $3,000 to help stop hunger and poverty here in our community and around the world through self-help initiatives. A portion of the funds raised in Monroe will go to the Green County Food Pantry. The rest will support the international work of Church World Service.

Monroe and about 2,000 cities and towns nationwide are joining together in an interfaith community for CROP Hunger Walks around the theme, "Ending hunger one step at a time." CROP walkers are encouraged to dress in their own "team" fashion.
