MONROE - The Courthaus Quilt Guild and the Monroe High School German Exchange Club will present a quilt show on April 9 and 10 at the Monroe High School gymnasium in Monroe. This year's them is a Kaleidoscope of Quilts. The event will include a judged quilt show, a merchant mall, gift sales by Guild members, and a quilt appraiser.
Entries for the judged quilt show are welcomed from any interested parties. Entry fee is $10 for the first item with a $1 fee for each additional item. Entries postmarked by the due date of Friday, March 25 will be discounted to $5 for the first entry with a $1 fee for each additional item.
Entries for the judged quilt show should be in the bed quilt, crib or lap quilt, wall quilt, or quilted accessories categories. Entry fees are waived for youth wanting to enter items in the youth categories. Items submitted for judging must be made by the exhibitor, be clean, and in show condition.
Entries may be dropped off at the Monroe High School M-Room area from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8. Items may be dropped off at Wing'n Pond by previous arrangements with Ruby Radke at (608) 325-4135 or (608) 325-2435.
All entries will be judged by certified judges with awards presented at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 10. Additionally there will be a trunk show of colorful antique quilts. These quilts are for display only and no entry fee is required.
The show will also feature a quilt appraiser. Sandy Schweitzer will appraise quilts by appointment. Appointments last 30 minutes and will cost $45. Additionally, Schweitzer will be providing a free chat about quilt care at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9 and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10.
A food court will be operated by the MHS German Exchange Club to raise funds for its trip to Germany. Other activities during the show include Viewer's Choice voting, raffles for a queen-size quilt as well as various gift baskets. Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance from quilt guild members and during the show.
