Community invited to Latin American meal on Feb. 28

MONROE - All are invited to a special Loaves and Fishes community meal from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1025 15th Ave., Monroe.

An authentic Latin American meal, including pork and beef soft-shell tacos and tamales with beans and rice, will be served, followed with flan with caramel topping. Beverage selections will be chocolate and white milk, coffee and lemonade.

The meal will be cooked by people from the Latin American community. Members of the Monroe Bible Church are providing volunteers and many will serve and clean up.

Following the meal will be live Mexican music. "Santa Maria," a traditional Mexican dance group from Freeport, will be performing from 6:30 to 8 p.m. After the performance, instruction on the dance moves will be offered to any interested in learning it.

The meal and entertainment are free and open to the public. The sponsors for the meal are David and Katherine Frey.
