MONROE - The Monroe Community Foundation was recognized at the July meeting of the Green County Veterans Memorial Park.

Linda Gebhardt and Christie Strait attended the event as representatives of the Monroe Community Foundation. The Monroe Fund was recognized for giving a grant to the park to purchase a bench. More benches will be placed in the park as funds are received from families and organizations in honor of veterans.

Engraving on the front edge of the benches is included. Benches with engraving on the top of the seats are available at an additional cost. Benches with backs and engraving are also available. The park committee will have half sponsorship of the Navy flagpole still available. All other flagpoles have been designated by donations.

Funds are currently being raised to bring a helicopter to the site.
