Community blood drive planned in South Wayne

SOUTH WAYNE - American Red Cross will host a community blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 2 at Marty's Village Inn, 207 West Wisconsin 11, South Wayne.

There is a need for all types of blood. For an appointment, call 800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org.

In Wisconsin, blood donors must be at least 17 years old, although 16-year-old donors are permitted if they have parental consent. Blood donors must be in good general health and feel well on the day of the donation. Donors should weigh 110 pounds or more. There are special weight restrictions for high school donors and donors under age 18, depending on gender and height. All donors must show proof of age via a primary form of identification such as a driver's license or an American Red Cross donor card. RedCrossBlood.org offers a printable permission form for blood donors requiring parental consent.
