ORANGEVILLE, Ill. — Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater Director Kim McIver has announced the cast for the upcoming comedy “Blithe Spirit.”
The show roster includes Cole Duvall as Charles Condomine, and Emily Duval as his wife, Ruth. They are friends with Dr. and Mrs. Bradman, played by Ron Pallek and Sandy Sweitzer. Medium Madame Arcati is portrayed by Mary Jo Frederick. The Bradman’s maid is Melanie Frederick. And the ghostly Elvira is Keisha Leehan.
“Blithe Spirit” is set at the house of writer, Charles Condomine, and his wife, Ruth. He invites local eccentric medium, Madame Arcati, to hold a seance at his house. Despite initially thinking the seance has been a failure, it soon becomes clear that Madame Arcati has unwittingly brought back Charles’ first wife, Elvira, to haunt him. Once in his house, Elvira is unable to leave and causes all kinds of mischievous trouble between the married couple. When Elvira unwittingly causes Ruth’s death in her attempts to bring Charles over to be with her, Charles becomes haunted by both of his now-deceased wives. Frustrated by their odd situation, Madame Arcati is summoned once more to send Elvira and Ruth back to the other side. However, Charles gets an ending he was not expecting.
The show, to be presented at the MRPDT Theater at 203 W. High St. in Orangeville, Illinois, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday nights March 20 and 21 with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. March 22.
