Iowa State University

AMES, Iowa — A virtual commencement ceremony was held this spring at Iowa State University to honor the nearly 5,100 graduates who earned degrees. The traditional on-campus celebrations were moved online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. University leaders recorded three commencement ceremonies to honor graduates. Local students include:

Marquette University

MILWAUKEE — Madison Perkins of New Glarus has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2020 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Perkins is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.


Wartburg College

WAVERLY, Iowa — Emily Raab of Warren was named to the Wartburg College Winter/May Term Dean’s List.

The list honors students who earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the terms. 


UW-Stout

MENOMONIE — The following local students from the area graduated in May 2020 from University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie.

RIVER FALLS — The University of Wisconsin-River Falls spring semester Dean’s List honoring 2,210 students has been released.

Students named to the Dean’s List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 9 credit hours. Local students include:

Cedarville University

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Cedarville University student Breanna Lawrence, Evansville, was named to the Dean’s Honor List for Spring 2020. This recognition required Lawrence to maintain a 3.75 GPA and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.


Coastal Carolina University

CONWAY, South Carolina — Rachel Uebelacker, a marine science major from Belleville, graduated from Coastal Carolina University in the Spring 2020.


Wheaton College

WHEATON, Illinois — Wheaton College student Aurora Daniels, Juda, was named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 semester.

To earn Dean’s List honors at Wheaton, an undergraduate student must carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher.


Coastal Carolina University

CONWAY, South Carolina — Rachel Uebelacker, Belleville, was named to the President’s List at Coastal Carolina University for the Spring 2020 semester. 


UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER — Kahlen Friske, Monroe, was an award winner during the virtual 2020 MAGD EXPO at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The MAGD EXPO is normally held in early May on the UW-Whitewater campus as a one-day event featuring a juried show of interactive entertainment in 2D, 3D, aural, virtual and animated creative work. This year it was moved to a virtual environment and ran May 19 to June 19. The entire event was run through the website www.magdexpo.com and student projects can still be viewed through the site.

Friske, a computer science major, was the runner-up in the Games category for Lumbered and Outnumbered. The categories for entries included: 2D, 3D, Video, Audio/Interactive/Physical and Games. There were 53 entries this year.


Pensacola Christian College

PENSACOLA, Florida — Emily Beuschel, Juda, was named to the Dean’s List by Dr. Troy Shoemaker, president of Pensacola Christian College, for academic achievement during the 2020 spring semester. This was a result of earning a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher.


University of Nebraska-Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska — Kate Krebs, Monticello, has been named to the Deans’ List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2019-20 academic year.


Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Isaiah Janisch, Evansville, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Janisch was initiated at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.


Wisconsin Lutheran College

MILWAUKEE — Desmond Breadon, New Glarus, graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran College in May 2020. Desmond received a Master of Arts degree in transition to teaching.
