University of Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa — University of Dubuque celebrated the accomplishments of its undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students at its 167th commencement ceremony on May 18. Local graduate includes:

Benton: Kyle Johnston, bachelor of business administration, magna cum laude


Southern College of Optometry

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Kristin McArdle, O.D., of Monroe was among 130 students recently awarded the Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. McArdle graduated Magna Cum Laude and Beta Sigma Kappa, a designation for students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement.

A native of Monroe, McArdle is the daughter of Barb and Jeff McArdle. She is a graduate of Monroe High School and the University of Wisconsin — Madison.


Clarke University

DUBUQUE, Iowa — Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, awarded degrees and honors at its Commencement Ceremony on May 18. Local students earning degrees are:

Drake University

DES MOINES, Iowa — The following local students have been named to the Deans’  List at Drake University.

To be eligible for the Deans’ list students must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the spring semester at Drake.

Madison Area Technical College

FORT ATKINSON — Shannon Schnell of Belleville completed her nursing assistant training at Madison Area Technical College’s Fort Atkinson campus. 

Schnell is ready to begin her career in the health care field or continue training in various medical related programs at a college or university.
