MONROE - Green Haven Family Advocates Inc. invites the public to view the Clothesline Project, a visual display of T-shirts that have been designed and painted by survivors, friends and family members of survivors, or by friends and family members who wish to memorialize a victim. The T-shirts are hung on a clothesline and displayed at different locations throughout Green County during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Blackhawk Technical College is hosting the Project until Monday, Oct. 13, then view it at the Monroe Library until Saturday, Oct. 18, when the project will be on display at the Green Haven event in Twining Park. Then it moves to the Green County Human Service building until Oct. 27. Curves will host the display until Nov. 9. Members of the public may anonymously add to this display by designing a T-shirt and/or contacting Green Haven Family Advocates for specific details.

The mission of the Clothesline Project is to bear witness to the survivors and the victims of the war against domestic violence; to help with the healing process for those who have lost a loved one to abuse, or who are survivors of this violence; to educate, document, and raise society's awareness of the extent of the problem of domestic violence; and to provide a nationwide network of support, encouragement, and information for other communities starting their own clothesline projects.
