MONROE - Monroe Clinic announced that it received a grant from the Monroe Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc. to support parish nurse health fairs.

Monroe Clinic's parish nurse program works with parish nurses throughout the service area to promote health, wellness and disease prevention to members of their congregations as well as to the community as a whole.

The health fairs are held in collaboration with other community organizations including Green County Public Health, Green County Human Services, Safe Kids, Green County Aging and Disability Resource Center and Monroe Clinic.

The goals of the parish nurse health fairs include the following:

• Help meet the health needs of the members of the congregation and community who may lack access to health care because of their inability to pay for such services.

Through screenings potential health issues can be determined and referrals made to assist the individual to meet their newly identified healthcare need.

Several parish nurse health fairs are currently being planned. Parish nurses Lori Vogel, RN and Mary Kay Zemlicka, RN will be holding the first parish nurse health fair beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Hope Evangelical Free Church in Monroe.

The second by parish nurse Linda Boss, RN of Browntown Peace United Church of Christ will be held beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Browntown Civic Center.
