City offers football, volleyball for kids

The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is offering Flag Football for any fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boy or girl. The cost is $19.

Flag Football is held Tuesdays after school at Recreation Park. The first practice is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 9th or all participants. Games will begin on Tuesday, Sept.16 and end Tuesday, Oct. 21. (There will be no game on Sept. 30th, which is early release from school). Games will start at 3:30. Times will depend on the number of teams.

The city is also offering volleyball for any fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boy or girl. The cost is $19. Volleyball is held Mondays after school at Northside gym starting Sept. 8. For the first two weeks, practice will be as follows: Fourth-graders from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.; fifth-graders from 4:15 to 5 p.m.; and sixth-graders from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Games will begin Sept. 22. Game times are 3:30, 4:15, etc.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office now and have been distributed to Monroe schools or log on to www.cityofmonroe.org and download a registration form from the Fall and Winter brochure.
