MONROE - Monroe Parks and Recreation has a few openings in some upcoming programs.
Some of the available programs include:
Tot Lot is a class for 3- through 5-year-olds that includes songs, crafts, games, stories and playground activities. Sessions will meet Monday through Thursday at Twining South Shelter from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. All children participating must be toilet-trained. There are two sessions: June 15 through July 2 and July 13 through 30. Each session is $70 for residents and $80 for non-residents.
Friday-only Tot Lot is offered from June 12 through July 24 from 9:30 through 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 residents and $45 non-residents.
Lassie Softball League will be on Tuesdays, June 16 through July 28 at Twining Park. Girls entering 5K will be from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., girls entering first grade at 6:15 until 7 p.m., and girls entering second grade from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $20 residents and $30 non-residents.
T-Ball is for boys entering 5K in September and will be on Thursdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. at Recreation Park from June 18 through July 30. The cost is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents.
Coach-Pitch Minor League is for boys entering first and second grade and will be held at Recreation Park on Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 17 through July 30. Boys entering first grade will meet at 6:10 until 7:10 p.m. and those entering second grade will meet from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. The cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents.
Summer School Afternoon Club is a program for children that runs the same weeks and days as Summer School. For boys and girls enter 5K through fifth grade, it will be held Monday through Friday beginning at noon until 5 p.m. Session one runs June 15 through July 3 and session two is July 13 through 31. The cost is $200 for each three-week session.
Summer Basketball Skills for children entering first through fifth grades will be held on Tuesdays from June 16 through July 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Northside Gym. The cost is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents.
Volleyball Skills for children entering fourth through ninth grades will be held on Wednesdays from June 17 through July 22 from 6:30 through 7:30 p.m. at the Northside Gym. The cost is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents.
Playground for Special Needs will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 16 through July 23 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Recreation Park North Shelter. The program is for special needs children in first grade through high school. The cost is $25 for residents, $35 non-residents.
Summer Golf lessons will be Tuesdays, June 9 through Aug. 11 at the Monroe Country Club. Boys and girls, 8 through 10 years old, meet at 5:30 through 6:15 p.m. and 11 through 14 years old from 6:15 to 7 p.m. The cost is $30 residents and $40 non-residents.
