MONROE — The Monroe City Band concludes its summer concert series at noon Saturday on the south side of the Square as a part of the Cheese Days festivities.
The band will entertain festival attendees with classic band literature, popular music from stage and screen and crowd favorites.
The band will open the concert with a traditional performance of The Star Spangled Banner.
Other selections will include an arrangement of themes from the Star Wars film series, the Pie in the Face Polka featuring the clarinet section, a collection of Bruno Mars’ greatest hits, selections from the Broadway and film classic, The Sound of Music and a collection of other pieces.
The Monroe City Band was founded in 1949 by Allan F. Barnard as a way for adults to continue to perform music after high school.
The band will conclude its 69th year with their annual holiday concert in December. The band is always accepting new members.
