MONROE - The Monroe City Band and the Monroe Junior Optimists will join forces at the City Band concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 18 at the Twining Park band shell, to bring attention to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin (AADAW) and to the growing number of programs and assistance available for families who are affected by Alzheimer's and similar conditions. The concert, which is part of the band's summer season, will feature selections relating to memories, and the Junior Optimists will make refreshments available during the concert.

Proceeds will, in part, be used to fund efforts to inform and educate the community on services available to families and to volunteer opportunities for those who wish to aid in those efforts. Informational brochures provided by the Junior Optimists will also be available after the concert.

The purpose of the AADAW is to provide resources and support for diagnostic services, information, referrals and volunteer opportunities to local affected families in Wisconsin, officials said in a release. The 10th annual Green County Alzheimer's Walk, to be held on September 10 this year, is also promoted by the Optimists. Host and MC for the concert will be Dr. George Breadon. There is no admission charged. Concert-goers are invited to bring lawn chairs or make use of the available seating.

Mrs. Gabrielle Breadon is coordinating the Junior Optimists, and Randy Schneeberger directs the Monroe City Band.
