MONTICELLO — Pentecost is the Church holiday that celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the early church at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 31. It has been called the “Birthday of the Church.” Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello is planning a birthday celebration for Pentecost Sunday. 

A drive-in worship service followed by a processional parade through Monticello will start at 9:15 a.m. Members and guests are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with symbols of Pentecost or with symbols of birthdays. Flames, doves, birthday cakes, candles, pin wheels and windsocks are all ideas. 

Anyone can participate in the worship service transmitted through radio and. Individual communion is also offered. The service is followed by a procession through town.
