Soup, sandwich lunch
rescheduled for tomorrow
MCCONNELL - Due to flooding in McConnell, the McConnell United Methodist Church soup and sandwich lunch has been rescheduled, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at 211 N. Hulbert Road.
The menu will include all-you-can-eat chili, vegetable beef soup, cheese sandwiches, celery and carrot sticks, dessert and beverage. Funds made at this event are used for new youth ministry and mission projects.

Oakley Union UMC to hold annual soup day fundraiser
JUDA - The Oakley Union United Methodist Church's annual "Soup Day" fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today in fellowship hall. Located at W2388 Gerber Road, the church is 15 minutes from both Monroe or Brodhead.
There will be a craft and bake sale throughout the day featuring homemade pies, bars and cookies, jams and jellies, and many other items that have been donated or made by local families.
Two types of homemade chili, homemade beef vegetable soup, chicken noodle soup, hot dogs, chili cheese dogs, brick and Swiss cheese sandwiches, homemade desserts with ice cream and beverages will be served.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from any church member or at the door the day of the event. All proceeds go to support the church. For more information, call 934-5398.

Bluebirds to be the topic at Monroe United Methodist
MONROE - "Flying into Spring" will be the topic at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Monroe United Methodist Church, 2227 4th St.
In this informational presentation about eastern bluebirds and other native cavity-nesting species, attendees will learn where to find local bluebird trails and how to encourage wildlife in the backyard.
This free presentation will be led by Carol McDaniel, president of Lafayette County Bluebird Society. Refreshments will follow the program.
Last fish dinner scheduled at St. Victor School March 16
MONROE - St. Clare of Assisi Parish will be having a fish dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. March 16 in the St. Victor School gym, 1416 20th Ave.
The menu will include fried and baked fish, coleslaw, applesauce, baked potato, french fries, potato pancake, mac-n-cheese, dinner roll, dessert, coffee and milk.
Special Easter program
scheduled for children
MONROE - Resurrection Lutheran Church will be holding a special Easter program for children ages 3 through 10 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 24 at the church, 1603 16th Ave.
Children will hear a Bible story and participate in music, crafts and an Easter egg hunt.
Pre-registration is appreciated so the church can plan and prepare, but not necessary. Registration can be completed online at rlcverona.org or by calling 515-4334.

Grief Support Group to start at St. John's Lutheran
LENA - A new eight-week Grief Support Group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 7 at St. John's Lutheran Church.
The first group had 13 people who had lost a spouse or a parent.
The purpose of the group is to find support from God's Word and from others who are making the same difficult journey. The group is not meant to be a cure-all for grief but does help to put one on track for healing and living.
Rick Bader leads the sessions with experience, caring and compassion.
