Choral Society to perform its annual winter concert

FREEPORT - Freeport Choral Society's annual winter concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, at St. John United Church of Christ, 1010 S. Park Boulevard. Gwynne French conducts the group for this concert with Randy Cook playing keyboards. The Community Handbell Choir will perform as well as accompany a choral number.

The concert will feature seasonal music in a variety of musical styles and genres. The program includes sacred octavos, from "I Saw Three Ships" to "Mary's Little Boy Child" and "Rise Up Shepherd and Follow."

Violinist Brandon Lamm will add violin parts to "Winds Through the Olive Trees" and "A Hanukkah Remembrance." Some members of the Carl Sandburg Chorus will join the Choral Society on an Austrian folk song "As Lately We Watched." A medley of popular German Christmas carols and another medley of popular songs such as "Winter Wonderland" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" are included.
