MONROE — Community members will gather to help honor the men and women who create business in Green County during a Celebration of Entrepreneurship event on Nov. 13.

The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Enterprise Center, at the north end of Blackhawk Technical College, 210 4th Ave., Monroe. A special presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Visitors may enter through the Second Street entrance, directly across from Alp & Dell Cheese Store.

As part of the celebration, the Green County Development Corporation will recognize recent graduates of its Entrepreneurial Training Program, an eight-week program that offers local entrepreneurs training and one-on-one consulting. The program covers a wide variety of topics pertinent to running their existing and start-up businesses, including business management, developing a business model, insurance, financing, marketing and legal issues. 

The event is also a celebration of the 49 Green County businesses that Small Business Development Center (SBDC) consultants have served over the past year. These businesses have created: Five new businesses, 21 new jobs and nearly $700,000 in capital.

Short videos highlighting four of these businesses will also be unveiled as part of the celebration event. The videos feature Cherri Bell of Twisted Tree Eatery in Monticello; Valerie Weber of Hagemann Trucking in Juda; Jen and Bryce Riemer of Riemer Family Farms near Brodhead; and Erick Wells of Sniff-N-Fumes in Monroe. 

Light refreshments will be served.
