Celebrating its French connection

BELLEVILLE - Belleville will be celebrating its French heritage with Bastille Day on July 18. Bastille Day is the day in France when the townspeople stormed the Bastille and freed the unjustly held political prisoners and in that celebration, the following events are scheduled:

Friday and Saturday

• Quilt Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and July 18, at Belleville High School gymnasium, 635 West Church Street, Belleville ($5 admission). There will be judging, demos and lectures, silent auction and quilt appraisals.

Saturday

• Fishing demonstration at Lake Belle View - 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

• Wine and Cheese Tasting tent at Library Park - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Pets in the Park (for adoption) at Library Park - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Food and beverage tent at Library Park - 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

• Children talent contest at Library Park - 1 p.m.

• Music in the Park - 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. ($5 cover charge).
