Cast of characters, information and meeting for ‘Night (and Day) at the Museum’

DARLINGTON — “Night (and Day) at the Museum” is the Lafayette County Historical Society’s special event happening Sept. 23-25, at which the history of the county will come to life in and outside the Museum in Darlington’s Veterans Park on Main St.

Anyone who has volunteered to portray a historical person or is interested in learning more about helping out at the Historical Society special event, is encouraged to come to the Museum the week of Aug. 22 during regular hours if in need of information or advice on attire for their character. Staff is prepared to assist. If Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. doesn’t work, call 608-776-8340 to request additional hours and they will make other arrangements.

A Cast of Characters planning meeting (for the Sept. 23-25 event) will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Museum. They will discuss costumes, characters, timing of appearances and activities. Anyone interested in helping out (in costume or not) is welcome to attend to find out more about the event.

All are encouraged to bring their calendar for Sept. 23-25 with an idea of their availability.

●  Sept. 23-25, “Night (and Day) at the Museum when History Comes to Life” is a 3-day special event at Veterans Park on Main St. in Darlington. The Lafayette County Historical Society Museum will be open all weekend and the park will be filled with characters from our county history including a Fur Trade Era encampment, Civil War soldiers, shooting demonstrations, food vendors, historical displays. Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Live music Saturday night by Fever River String Band and The Blarneys, Optimist Club Cheese Curds, and more.
