Carp contest starts Aug. 30

The Lake Winnetka/Sugar River Improvement Association Inc. will hold its annual carp fishing contest, rain or shine, from Friday, Aug. 30 through 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2 in Albany. There will be a $50 first prize for the most carp caught and another $50 prize for the largest carp caught. Second through fifth prizes, consisting of cash or merchandise, will be awarded with the most carp caught. Participants must have a valid Wisconsin fishing license. ALBANY - The Lake Winnetka/Sugar River Improvement Association Inc. will hold its annual carp fishing contest, rain or shine, from Friday, Aug. 30 through 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2 in Albany. There will be a $50 first prize for the most carp caught and another $50 prize for the largest carp caught. Second through fifth prizes, consisting of cash or merchandise, will be awarded with the most carp caught, regardless of size. No registration is required to compete in the contest, but those who participate must have a valid Wisconsin fishing license. Carp may be caught by pole or bow fishing. Qualifying carp must be caught from the Sugar River in Albany or Lake Winnetka, upstream of the Albany dam. Prizes will be awarded in the park by the Albany boat ramp.
