MONROE - The late Monsignor Thomas F. Campion, a long-time Monroe resident, priest and community booster, will be honored with the creation of a charitable fund in his name. The Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund will support religious, educational and non-profit organizations in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
The fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, which also serves as the parent organization of the Monroe Fund.
A cheese-tasting featuring cheese from the U.S. Cheese Contest and sponsored by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association and the local Foreign Type Cheese Makers Association will launch the Monsignor Campion Charitable Fund.
The cheese tasting will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Old Smokey's, 1301 17th St. Proceeds from the event will be designated for the fund.

The founders of the Campion Charitable Fund are Monroe citizens and members of the cheese making industry.
The committee includes Ron Buholzer, Jeff Conway, Michael Doyle, Ray Kneller, Shirley Knox, Ellen Marti, Rich Schindler, Meghan Schramer and Jeff Wideman.
